The city is located in the south-western part of French-speaking Switzerland, between the Alps and the Jura mountains, in the so-called Lake Geneva region. Geneva is the second largest financial centre in Switzerland after Zurich, followed by Lugano. In a ranking of the world’s most important financial centres, Geneva ranks 14th.
In addition to sights such as the Jet d’Eau (water fountain), the sundial in the Jardin Anglais or the United Nations Office, the nearby mountain landscape with Mont Blanc (at 4810 m the highest mountain in the Alps) is another extremely attractive reason to visit this region.
